Hello!
Hello,
Well we made it hear and the weather couldn’t be better! High of 21C (70F) with livable humidity.
Getting here on the other hand was an adventure, Between getting our tickets reprinted at the airport and not having my boarding pass when I entered security (I'm leaving out all the details). Once on the plane we discovered how cramped it was in Econ. Tip for others is to fly Air Canada not Lufthansa as AC has about 2" more leg room. After landing at our destination we discovered that we didn’t have a Wagon reserved for us... We got that straightened out and then when we were waiting this other moron said he was Mr. Thomson and took our car! Luckily he had requested the same car... So we were on our way...
I quickly discovered that Lindsey was not use to Autobahn driving, may be in a few weeks she will be behind the wheel and buzzing along above 100mph. Also I forgot that Lindz had not yet converted her self to SI units and could not visualize 300m So we both messed up and ended up taking a scenic tour of a neighboring city.
We got here and were given the option of the larger rooms in the hotel. We both agree that the room we are in is cleaner then any hotel we have been in before. The room is spacious with an area for a guest tucked back in a corner. We are on the top floor with a beautiful view of the countryside.
Our TV is basic, 12 channels (1 English - MSNBC) the night time infomercials are a little more risqué then in Canada and unheard of in the US. But I don’t need a translator to enjoy :-)
The food has been great! Breakfast is basic, but we both have a hard time finishing our dinners. As the Locals would say: "It is better to be in great pain due to over eating then it is to feed the cook." As a result they are hesitant to take a plate with food on it back to the kitchen.
So we got here in our Opal Wagon (If GM was smart they would sell there opal line in North America!) and we had to turn it in for our long term rental, Guess what we are driving for the next 11 weeks?! An Audi A4 Wagon Diesel Automatic! Lindsey said that my driving fits right in, I of course took that as a complement. Then she told me that we all drive like crazy idiots! Ha! Well it's an Automatic so I expect to see Lindz behind the wheel in the coming weeks (She says no).
Ran in to some friends from London last night, had some beers and ice cream... I think Lindsey found her comfort food.
Tip for travelers: No hotel rooms have clocks, so be prepared. But I picked one up for 9€ last night, prices are similar to NA, and beer is good and cheap!
Cheers!
-Marshall
