Auf Wiedersehen Samba!

Well we have survived Samba! It was pretty crazy. For those of you who don't know, Samba is this crazy Brazilian music festival that takes place every July in Coburg. It lasts about 3 days and seems to be non stop pandemonium. Saturday night we went out for dinner and due to the abundance of people in town we had to park a little further away than normal to go to Flamers. On the walk to dinner we saw a woman who had actually peed her pants! The funniest thing about it, in my opinion, was the fact that she seemed really angry with her gentleman friend about it. I mean I highly doubt it was his fault she peed her pants. LOL Sunday they had a parade with all the bands and one band in particular had three dancers that were dressed in some crazy Vegas drag queen get ups. Well the dancers were all women except the gentleman in the middle, if you can call him that. All the dancers were quite old and scantily clad. They were all dressed the same and had on bright pink lipstick, yes even the male. Samba was loud, hot and crowded with many drunken people. Not exactly my scene, but I think Marsh enjoyed it. LOL I am just glad it is over and things can get back to normal here in Coburg.

Saturday we got up and went down to Nuremburg. They have an Ikea, an Adidas outlet as well as a Puma one and yet another outlet with all kinds of sporting goods and clothing. We were able to pick up some duvet covers at Ikea for just 12 Euros each. Marsh was looking for a pair of shoes but had no luck on account that the shoe sizes here stop at 11 1/2. I however found an Adidas jacket that was originally 60 Euros and got it for 20 Euros. Woo hoo! We are finding that some things are less costly here but others are just the same as at home or more. Just depends on what you are looking for and where you look for it.

Last week we decided to drop by the Goebel factory store, we'll do the tour another time. Goebel is the manufacturer of Hummels. On a side note Bernt, told us the story of the Hummel. I guess years ago a nun by the name of "Hummel" started making and hand painting the little figurines. This Goebel guy being a smart guy talked the nun into letting him mass produce them and thus the Hummel craze was born. Anyhow we went to the store and checked them out, boy are they expensive! My wonderful husband about crapped his pants when he saw how much they were. I asked him, "Well how much did you think they were," he then replied, "well, I was thinking about 8 or 9 bucks." LOL He is quite a funny guy. The least costly one I saw was 60 or 70 Euros. So if anyone would like a Hummel, please send a hefty check! LOL

Yesterday we'd had enough of Samba and its crowd, so we ventured up to the hotel next to the castle. The food was sooooooooooo good! We started off with what was described to us as a "cheese salad." We were expecting a plate of sliced cheeses and some crackers but instead were give a plate with a rather large serving of what looked suspiciously like cream cheese with onions and chives on top with some slices of rye bread. It turns out it was a French cheese called Camembert. It was quite good. We then waited another 20 minutes for the chicken that was on the rotisserie when we had arrived. The chicken was well worth the wait too! It was delicious, as was the potato salad that came with it. To be honest, I don't think there is such a thing as bad potato salad here. LOL If that weren't enough, we then split a piece of cake, which was great. I have no clue what kind of cake it was but I loved every layer of the fluffy white cake and the custard type frosting. It was really tasty yet light. We can't wait to go back, and if I have my way we will go there again tonight! LOL

Right now it is looking as though meeting up with Diana in Prague might be difficult. Marshall has to be at work on the 18th and she is only there the 17th to the 20th. We're going to see what we can do though because I would really love to see her. I checked out the Highland Park Baptist site and Brno, where Diana will be, is actually quite close to Ostrava. Ostrava is the location of the Brose plant in the Czech that Marshall may have to visit. I hope Di is having a wonderful time. Hope the Grab's had a great time on their vacation in Kentucky too! That's about it for now, hopefully this week will bring some more adventures for us, and some good stories for all of you. LOL Take care everyone!
